there has to be a lot of assumptions here due to so little detail. Engine cold look around the cylinder head see if gasket gone. if you find oil you have where its leaking from and change gasket. If no leak check around shaft at the sump/engine block. finally check all around your sump gasket, difficult but necessary, if oil is found starting from there tighten gasket run engine, if leak has not stopped new sump gasket!I have an oil leak on the engine of my campion allante (2001). Any ideas where to start?
as an average knowledged person about the cars, i'll start with checkin where the oil is really leaking from. i.e. a foot long area around the main leak confuses you to be able to assure you the real point of leakage. so i'd 1stly clean all that oily black area thoroughly n then se where that main sourse of leakage. if its the leakage from the sump (bottom of the car that has either 12 or 13 size bolt) i'd see if the bolt is tighten properly. then the joining bit of the sump (a higher middle section of the sump either 10 or 12 size bolts) put some silicon sealant specially made for all these kinda joints in a car or a ute. looks like glue but it keeps the things from leaking out of these kinda joints. if the leak is from the engine head or spark plug holes then i'd either change my gasket or go take it to my local mechanic who only charges 12 bottles or beer to fix anything beyond my knowledge.
p.s. bolt sizes are only based for an average sazes sedan or a hatch. not too sure about the sizes of a ute or a truck
