What could cause oil to leak from the oil filter?

Besides a loose fit, I can't figure it out. The car is an '02 Chrysler Town %26amp; Country minivan. The leak is just a drip or two in the driveway each day, but it's bothering me.What could cause oil to leak from the oil filter?
it could be the oil filter housing, you may need a new gasket, also the oil pressure switch is sometimes located just above the filter, those things leak when they go bad. hope this helpsWhat could cause oil to leak from the oil filter?
The gasket needs to be cleaned , a small amount of light oil on the gasket before you replace filter, do not over tighten filter , hand tight only.....
please check again, this might not be a leak form the oil filter, but the engine oil or from the rear exhaust, its a mixture of oil and carbon particles, you can remove the exhaust and burn it, the mechanics will do this , this will remove the carbon partilces.
you may have a faulty oil filter, or the seal on the filter is twisted a little or not in place correctly. also as i have seen it done, make sure there was not an oil seal stuck on the housing when you put the new one on, and it has two rubber seals on it.
Bad gasket on top or a warped top plate. Discount store oil filters should be should avoided like the bubonic plague. They're often built with very thin sidewall material as well as the top covers. Keep in mind, oil filters from NAPA are made by the Wix filter company, among the top three in the country. The other two are AC-Delco and Purolater ( maker of Motorcraft oil filters)

Simply change it using a cup style oil filter wrench and make absolutely sure that the old filter gasket comes off. Coat the new filter gasket with clean motor oil.
take the filter off and get a new one and clean where it mounts real good and make sure that there isn't a gasket on the mounting surface as sometimes the gasket pulls off the old filter and sticks to the mounting surface, it's possible thats your problem.
Besides not being tight enough, I suppose it could be a faulty oil filter, maybe there's a hairline crack in it. Its usually the gasket though, did you put a thin layer of clean oil on it before you tightened it. *Did you use grease instead, this is no good. Is there an old gasket above the new gasket?
Most likely a gasket from a prior oil filter got stuck and is causing the new filter to create an improper seal. Next time you change the oil you should make sure that there aren't two gaskets on the oil filter.
Ok all that, also check if the filter is tight and if it has any holes in the filter from rocks/such.

Degrease the engine then trace the drip back. It may be coming from a (engine) seal
