It really depends on how severe it leaks. If it leaks something like 1 drop every now and then, I'd say no. If it drops continuously, then I 'd say yes, you better get it fixed soon.Is it important to fix an oil leak?

No - as long as it is not big and you constantly check the oil. Otherwise you ruin your engine. It may be something as simple as a valve cover gasket which would be worth fixing because it should be relatively inexpensive.
