What kind of costs am I looking at for a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix engine oil leak?

it all depends on where the leak is, if its a rear main, it's expensive(1200-750), but it could be a drain plug washer, and that is less than 10 bucks. There are a number of things that can cause an oil leak, but you could always just add oil and keep driving, its not abnormal for an older car to have oil leaking from it. First thing to do is,tighten all the oil pan nuts and rocker cover bolts, but dont overtighten. Then jetwash the motor, avoiding the electrics, then blo9w out the spark plug recesses with an air line and run the motor watching for any leaks. You dont say if it is smoking from the exhaust,it could be burning the oil.It can be the gearbox seal,it may be that the drain plug was fitted wrongly and cross threaded,in which case you will need a helicoil fitting. As for prices, pick your repairer and ask. What kind of costs am I looking at for a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix engine oil leak?
Where is it leaking from? If you have to replace the oil pan gasket and do it yourself, then the fix could cost less than 25 dollars. If it is just a stripped drain plug then the cost to fix it could cost less then 5 dollars. If a valve cover gasket is leaking then the cost could be less than 30 dollars. If its a bad oil filter gasket then the cost could be less than 5 dollars. You gotta let us know where the leak is coming from.
It really depends on where the leak is. If you haven already tried it, go to an auto parts store and get some engine oils stop leak. ask the clerck they can reccommend the best stuff. If it is an oil pan leak, not too much if you do it yourself, just the cost of a new seal, oil and oil filter. But if you need a better idea where is the leak?
It's a Pontiac, unload it while you can.
2.5 Million ??
Anywhere from 25-200 dollars! It depends what needs replaced.
not that much. just go get it appraised at an auto shop. it might just be a loose oil filter
depends on how bad it is 100-350
