The white smoke is the oil burning. You have an oil leak, either because a seal is blown or you have combustion gases leaking into the crankcase causing pressure to push oil out. That would be caused by the rings being worn. These engines have a somewhat effective PCV system that may be stopped up. If it is still working ok, then it is probably needing a ring job.


Hopefully, though, if you can find exactly where the leak is, maybe just replacing the leaking gasket will do it, at least for a while.
