If you have an oil leak do you need to get the oil changed ???

I found out I had an oil leak several months ago and my mechanic told me there was not alot of oil in the engine and he filled it up for me and told me I didnt need to change the oil. If I have to fill the engine with with a quart a week do I need to get the oil changed ?? If soo are there any problems that could happen with me not changing the oil ???If you have an oil leak do you need to get the oil changed ???
I would make sure I knew where the oil was leaking from. A small leak in an oil pan gasket isn't likely to get catastrophically worse. A crank or cam seal can ultimately work all the way out, dumping ALL your oil in a hurry. That can be a problem if you're in the middle of nowhere.

Then there's the etiquette part. You're leaving a mess wherever you park. If its in your dad's driveway, you may be headed for big trouble. (Speaking as a dad who has had that problem with Junior's cars.......)If you have an oil leak do you need to get the oil changed ???
get the leak fixed you are damaging the engine
Think about it.
if the oil is still good, then you dont have to change it, just get the leak stopped, unless they have to drop the oil pan and put on a new gasket, then they probably will put in new oil.
The best thing to do is get the underlying problem fixed. A quart of oil a week is a huge amount to be losing, and not very environmentally friendly - it could even cause the vehicle to fail its next road-worthiness test.

Get the leak fixed, and you problems will go away. If you don't change the oil on a car without a leak, the engine will wear out more quickly than it should. Servicing schedules are carefully worked out to ensure the vehicle lasts a reasonable time.
get the oil leak fixed--

if your going to drive it as is, then change the filter as you would normally, and keep it full of oil
No, but you'd better get that oil leak fixed. Not only can it be detrimental to the engine, but the E.P.A. can have your car taken off the road for polluting the environment.
Oil lasts a lot longer than the manufactures want you to believe. As long as your adding oil all the time I would change my oil every 12,000. Better yet get the leak fixed. If the car is too old to get fixed then don't worry about changing the oil. Get some STP and add it.
well your changing your oil after a month about by putting new oil in it just replace the oil filter and try to get the leak fixed
u dumbo ,ask the mechanic to fix it
While you may be fine for a for quite a long time just adding oil it would be good to pull the drain plug to drain the sludge also some cars have magnetic plug which needs to be cleaned of metal and also your filter needs to be changed. It would be good to fix your leaks one common place for leaks that are fairly easy to fix are your valvle cover gaskets they can sometimes just be tightend also check your oil pan drain plug, filter, and oil pan for leaks these are all generally fairly easy fixes.
No, not really. But every once in awhile you should change the filter.
get the oil leak fixed and , no you dont need to change the oil, just make sure it is topped up to the right level untill it's fixed
