there is an o-ring on the bottom of distributor. Before you pop out the distributor you need to make a mark where rotor is at or you will have a hard time with timing again. best bet it take shop and have it done. it should be an hour or 30mins labor. How do you repair an oil leak coming from the distributor on a 1992 gmc 350 engine?
mark the position of the rotor and dist. housing and pull it up out and change the gasket on the bottom of the dist. shaft.
Go with sleepy's plan. change both rubber o-ring and dist.base gasket. while you are back there make sure that the oil isn't coming from your oil sending unit while under pressure.
you take it out and replace the gasket
pull it put on a new seal
