there is an o-ring on the bottom of distributor. mark the position of the rotor and dist. housing and pull it up out and change the gasket on the bottom of the dist. shaft.
Go with sleepy's plan. change both rubber o-ring and dist.base gasket. while you are back there make sure that the oil isn't coming from your oil sending unit while under pressure.
you take it out and replace the gasket
pull it put on a new seal
